10-Day Korea Itinerary 2026: Seoul, Busan, Gyeongju & Jeju

Ten days is the ideal length for a first Korea trip. Long enough to move beyond Seoul and experience the country's remarkable regional diversity — from the ancient capital of Gyeongju to the coastal energy of Busan and the volcanic landscapes of Jeju — but focused enough that you're not rushing. This itinerary covers the four essential Korean experiences in a logical, transport-efficient sequence.
Overview
Transport logic: Seoul → Gyeongju (KTX, 2hrs) → Busan (train/bus, 1hr) → Jeju (flight, 1hr) → fly home from Jeju or return to Seoul (1hr flight)

Morning/afternoon: Arrive at Incheon Airport → AREX Express to Seoul Station (43 min, ₩9,500) → check in → rest

Where to stay: Myeongdong or Jung-gu area puts you central for Day 2
Day 2 — Historic Seoul
Morning (7:00am): - Bukchon Hanok Village at sunrise — arrive before 7am for empty alleys and the best light

Days 5–6: Gyeongju (경주)
Getting there: KTX from Seoul Station → Singyeongju Station (approx. 2 hours, ₩42,000–55,000)
Gyeongju was the capital of the Silla Kingdom for nearly 1,000 years and is sometimes called "the museum without walls." UNESCO heritage sites are scattered across the entire city — burial mounds, temples, and stone pagodas sit alongside ordinary neighborhoods.
Day 5 — Ancient Silla
Morning: - Tumuli Park (대릉원) — vast burial mound park in the center of the city; walk among the ancient royal tombs - Cheomseongdae Observatory (첨성대) — the oldest surviving astronomical observatory in Asia, 7th century
Afternoon: - Bulguksa Temple (불국사) — UNESCO World Heritage Site; one of Korea's most important Buddhist temples, set against forested mountains - Seokguram Grotto (석굴암) — the famous stone Buddha in a hillside grotto above Bulguksa; take the shuttle bus up
Evening: - Return to Gyeongju city center — dinner at a local restaurant; try Gyeongju bread (경주빵) — the city's famous walnut pastry
Day 6 — Slower Gyeongju
Morning: - Anapji Pond (안압지 / 동궁과 월지) — ancient royal garden pond; most beautiful early morning when mist hangs over the water - National Museum of Gyeongju — essential context for everything you've seen
Afternoon: - Yangdong Folk Village — UNESCO traditional village outside the city; quieter alternative to Hahoe - Or: cycle around the burial mounds and temple areas (bike rental available throughout the city)
Late afternoon: Train to Busan (1hr, ₩10,000–15,000)
Days 7–8: Busan (부산)
Getting there: Train from Gyeongju → Busan (about 1 hour)
Korea's second city is completely different in energy from Seoul — coastal, direct, and built around the sea. Busan's food culture is arguably the best in the country.
Day 7 — Busan Food & Markets
Morning: - Jagalchi Market (자갈치시장) — Korea's largest seafood market; browse the ground floor stalls then eat hoe on the 2nd floor - Gukje Market / Bupyeong Kkangtong alley — ssiat hotteok, eomuk, bibim dangmyeon
Afternoon: - Gamcheon Culture Village (감천문화마을) — the colorful hillside village, Busan's most photogenic neighborhood - Songdo Beach cable car — ocean views from the gondola
Evening: - Dwaeji gukbap dinner in Seomyeon — the quintessential Busan meal - Gwangalli Beach — riverside bars with the illuminated Gwangan Bridge as backdrop
Day 8 — Busan Coast

Afternoon: - Haedong Yonggungsa Temple (해동 용궁사) — the dramatic coastal temple built directly on sea cliffs; one of Korea's most photogenic sites - Beomeosa Temple (범어사) — mountain temple north of the city; quieter, forested, beautiful in spring
Evening: Flight or ferry connection to Jeju Island
Getting to Jeju: Gimhae Airport (PUS) → Jeju Airport (CJU), approx. 1 hour (₩40,000–80,000 — book in advance on Air Busan, Jeju Air, or Jin Air)
Days 9–10: Jeju Island (제주도)
Jeju is a UNESCO triple-crown island — Biosphere Reserve, World Natural Heritage, and Global Geopark. It has a completely different landscape from the mainland: volcanic peaks, lava tubes, tangerine groves, and the island women divers (해녀, haenyeo) who free-dive for seafood.
Transport note: Jeju requires a rental car or scooter to explore properly — public buses cover the main attractions but slowly. Rent at the airport on arrival.
Day 9 — East Jeju
Morning: - Seongsan Ilchulbong (성산일출봉) — the sunrise peak rising from the sea; climb before 8am for dramatic morning light and to beat tour groups
Mid-morning: - Haenyeo diving performance — watch the island's traditional women divers surface with their catches at Udo Island (우도) or Seongsan village
Afternoon: - Manjanggul Lava Tube (만장굴) — a 13km lava tube with cathedral-like chambers; one of the world's longest - Jeju Folk Village Museum — traditional thatched Jeju village life
Evening: - Dinner: Galchi jorim (갈치조림) — braised hairtail fish, the signature Jeju seafood dish; or black pork (흑돼지) barbecue — Jeju's most famous food
Day 10 — West Jeju & Departure
Morning: - Hallasan National Park (한라산) — if you have energy, the Eorimok or Yeongsil trail gives dramatic volcanic scenery without reaching the summit (4–5hrs round trip for summit; 2–3hrs for the plateau trails) - Or: Sanbangsan (산방산) — the dome-shaped volcanic peak in the southwest with coastal views and a small grotto temple
Afternoon: - Hyeopjae Beach (협재해변) — Jeju's most beautiful beach; turquoise water, white sand, view of Biyangdo island - Jeju Olle Trail section — walk a section of the famous coastal walking trail
Evening: Fly home from Jeju International Airport, or return flight to Seoul (Incheon or Gimpo) for onward connection
Transport Summary
Book KTX and flights on the Korail app (trains) and each airline's app directly. Book at least 2–3 weeks in advance for spring travel — seats fill fast.
Accommodation Tips
- Seoul: Stay in Myeongdong (central, walkable), Hongdae (nightlife, younger), or Insadong (quieter, cultural)
- Gyeongju: Small city — any central guesthouse works; hanok guesthouses available and atmospheric
- Busan: Haeundae for beach access; Seomyeon for food and nightlife; Nampo-dong for markets
- Jeju: Mid-island or Seogwipo side for Day 10 — avoids the drive across the island on departure day
Budget Estimate (Per Person)
Korea is one of the most affordable developed-country travel destinations in the world. The 10-day trip above — including KTX, domestic flights, mid-range hotels, and eating well — is achievable for significantly less than equivalent travel in Japan, Singapore, or Western Europe.
